More than 150 years ago, credit unions were formed to help members fight high loan rates. Today, credit unions have developed into full-service, member-owned, not-for-profit organizations designed to provide financial services at a reasonable cost.
During Highmark Federal Credit Union's history of quality service to our members, we've undergone many changes . . . changes that come with growth. From our humble beginnings, serving members from a closet at what is now Dakota Middle School, Highmark was originally chartered in 1940 as Rapid City Teachers Federal Credit Union.
As our field of membership expanded to include several employee groups, associational groups and area colleges, our name changed to Rapid City Federal Credit Union in 1988.
In 2000, we changed our name to Highmark Federal Credit Union - a name that refers to both our educational background and the high quality of our products and services.
Today our members come from a broad base. Those who live, work, worship or attend school in Pennington, Custer, Meade, or Lawrence counties, or have an immediate family member who does, are eligible to join Highmark Federal Credit Union.
We value your membership at Highmark, and want to be your primary financial institution, your first choice for financial services today and in the years ahead. At Highmark, "Our Primary Interest Is You!"
