Your initial deposit of $25 makes you an owner of the Credit Union. This amount is not a fee but a "purchase" of a share of ownership in the Credit Union. Unlike most financial institutions, "interest" on members' savings is paid in "dividends" that are calculated daily, compounded and credited monthly.
